Fire Away gelding makes it three in a row

Wilgerbosdrift’s successful sire Fire Away looks to have a smart sort on his hands in the form of Foudre.
The latter made it three wins in a row when he won at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on World Sports Betting Cape Town Met day.

Under Craig Zackey, the Eric Sands trained Foudre stormed home to claim Saturday’s City Of Cape Town C Stakes (1600m) a shade cosily by a length.
In the process, the five-year-old made it three wins in a row and three wins from just eight starts.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Foudre is unbeaten since relocating to Eric Sands.

The regally bred gelding, who is a half-brother to three G1 winners including Wilgerbosdrift’s promising young sire Hawwaam, races for Khaya Stables.

Foudre, who is out of the Jet Master mare Halfway To Heaven, was a R1 600 000 buy from the 2022 National Yearling Sale.

His sire Fire Away, also responsible for recent Listed Betway Mother Russia Stakes winner Warm Reception, has ten lots on offer at the Cape Yearling Sale and nine lots on offer at the Premier Yearling Sale.
