Wilgerbosdrift’s high-class sire Fire Away came up with an eye catching debut winner at the TAB Vaal on Thursday.
The beautifully bred three-year-old Fire To The Stars made the perfect start to his career when he won Thursday’s 4Racing Welcomes You Work Riders Maiden Plate (1700m).

Under Tshepiso Matsoele, Fire To The Stars was dropped out early in Thursday’s race, before running on strongly to get up and win, going away, by a length and a quarter.

Winning trainer Fabian Habib said after the win, “He has always shown me the ability although it is never easy for a first timer over 1700m.”

Bred by Ndoro Stud, Fire To The Stars races for Messrs J Nassif, M G Bothma, S Govender, G J Nassif, S Poriazis & Tri-Deal Sixteen CC.

A full-brother to 2025 G1 HKJC World Pool Premier’s Champions Challenge winner Fire Attack, Fire To The Stars is out of the Mambo In Seattle mare Bonnie Beers.

Thursday’s winner was a R700 000 buy from the 2025 National Yearling Sale.

His sire Fire Away also looks to have a progressive sort to his name in the form of Nautical Fire. The latter made it back to back wins when he won at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday.
