Wilgerbosdrift’s homebred champion Hawwaam looks to have come up with a very promising filly in the form of Durban Diamond.
The latter made the perfect start to her career when she won the second race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
Despite being very green, two-year-old Durban Diamond produced a devastating turn of foot in Sunday’s www.galloptv.co.za Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies).
Coming from well off the pace, the daughter of Hawwaam powered home in the closing stages to get up and win by half a length.
Trained by Dennis Bosch, Durban Diamond was ridden by Craig Zackey.
The filly, who was bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, is owned by Mr Alli.
Her five time G1 winning sire Hawwaam has some very well bred yearlings on offer at both the Cape and Premier Yearling sales.
Hawwaam’s Cape Sale draft includes a colt (Lot 46) out of G3 Strelitzia Stakes winner Neptune’s Rain, and a filly (Lot 110) from the female line of star fillies Pride and Speciosa.
His Premier Sale draft is headed by a half-brother (Lot 46) to G1 Computaform Sprint winning sire Master Archie and a colt (Lot107) bred on the same cross as Durban Diamond.
