Wilgerbosdrift’s increasingly successful stallion Fire Away was responsible for a trio of eye catching winners over the past weekend.
Fire Away runners enjoyed success at all of Hollywoodbets Greyville, Turffontein and Hollywoodbets Kenilworth over the past few days. The son of War Front went close to having a four-timer this weekend, with Fire Away gelding Wild Fig finishing second in the eighth and final race at Fairview on Friday.

His first success came when his promising son Fortress Of Fire won impressively at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Friday night.
Trained by Michael Roberts, the three-year-old was well supported prior to the start of the Bet with Colossus Exclusive on www.tote.co.za Class 4 (1200m) and duly obliged.
Under Rachel Venniker, the Fire Away gelding unleashed a fine turn of foot which saw Fortress Of Fire storm home, from the back of the field, to win going away by more than three-parts of a length.

Bred by Clifton Stud, Fortress Of Fire, who races for Mr Buhr, has won three of just seven starts, with the sophomore successful in last two starts.

Friday’s winner is out of the Fort Wood mare She’s A Fortress.

Fire Away’s handsome son Radio Star also caught the eye when he won at Turffontein on Saturday.
Making his first start since being gelding, the Mike Azzie trained three-year-old was given a fine, front running ride by Gavin Lerena to land the #Youcanbetonus! MR 78 Handicap in smart fashion.
