Hawwaam sibling off the mark

Wilgerbosdrift’s blue blooded young sire, and Equus Champion, Hawwaam gained yet another boost to his stellar pedigree on Saturday.
Hawwaam’s three-parts brother Ferryman (sired by Silvano’s champion son Vercingetorix) broke his maiden when he won the ninth and final race at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.

The lightly raced three-year-old got off the mark at just the third attempt when he claimed the Hollywoodbets Bright Future Open Maiden (1400m).
Under Calvin Habib, the Eric Sandsl trained colt raced keenly early on before hitting the front 200m from home.
The striking chestnut kept finding in the closing stages to score by a length and a quarter.
Runner up on debut, Ferryman had finished fifth second time out.

Owned by Sabine Platner, Ferryman was bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein.
Saturday’s winner was a R2 800 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

Out of triple Broodmare Of The Year Halfway To Heaven, Ferryman is not only a three-parts brother to Hawwaam, but he is also a half-brother to former Horse Of The Year Rainbow Bridge and dual G1 winner Golden Ducat.
Another half-brother, Foudre, has won his last three starts.

This family also enjoyed success at the recent National Yearling Sale. Gift From Heaven, a Querari daughter of Halfway To Heaven, had a Digital Age colt (Lot 31) make R800 000.
